Obituary for Ernest Neufeld

Ernest Neufeld
Ernest O Neufeld, 92, went home to Jesus, Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Born on Valentine’s Day in Mt Lake MI he grew up in Wolf Point MT. Ernie was the youngest of 10 children born to Jacob and Katharina (Siemens) Neufeld. His father died one month before Ernie was born and as a result he was raised by his mother, a single parent. Following his graduation from Wolf Point HS he served in the US Army. He had a love and excitement for learning and after receiving an honorable discharge he went on to receive degrees from Bethel Junior College, Moody Bible Institute, St Cloud Teachers College, and the University of Wyoming. In 1954 while visiting Mt Lake, Ernie went on a blind date with Ethel Klaassen. Ethel returned to Omaha NB to Grace Bible College and Ernie returned to teach in St Cloud MN. Two years later their paths crossed once again in church and they married the following summer. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Ernie said he was tired of shoveling snow and in 1960 they moved to Stockton CA where they both accepted teaching positions with Stockton Unified School District. Ernie was a Speech and Language Pathologist for SUSD with 30 years of dedicated service when he retired. He had a passion for sharing God’s word and His love. He was an active member of Quail Lakes Baptist Church, extremely involved with the Gideons International, and a supporter of many mission and ministry projects both local and worldwide. He enjoyed his rose garden, traveling and spending time with friends. He is survived by his beloved wife Ethel, in-laws Lillian Neufeld Portland OR, Paul and Jeanette (Klaassen) Kroeker Papillion NE and Marvin and Peggy Klaassen Lewisburg PA as well as many other dear relatives and precious friends. A memorial service will be held at Quail Lakes Baptist Church on March 12, 2018 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gideons International, Quail Lakes Baptist Church Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
